As our surface expression becomes increasingly congruent with our inner truth, we achieve greater authenticity. This is often seen as a process of self-actualization. However, the innermost aspects of ourselves do not always present in a straightforward manner. Our truths are not always indicative of how we think and feel. Furthermore, individual truths are separate from universal truths. Our personal truths are influenced by our past, culture, environment, family of origin and even visions we have of the future! If we want to be genuinely in touch with our highest truths—soul searching is paramount.
Exploration of soul is not compatible with direct approaches, familiar routes or even the linear mind. The soul communicates in a non-linear manner. This explains the profound emotions we feel when enjoying our favorite music, art, wildlife or areas of the natural world. These joys are creative forces that move us from within. Sensory stimuli, imagery, symbols, metaphors, and archetypes become a bridge to the inner dimensions of human nature.
Sometimes, aspects of who we are can be hidden, buried, led astray or repressed into unknown areas of consciousness. Because we cannot deny the genuine truth of who we are, these parts will be lived out in ways that remain outside of our awareness. This dark side of self, known as shadow nature in analytical psychology, is the unconscious voice of our truth. Parts of the soul disconnected, fragmented, sometimes lost or even damned, these personal features still lurk deep within. Consequently, repression of the rejected aspects of our past and true self make them stronger. They will eventually seep out through unconscious habits or behaviors that affect our ability to live authentically. After all, within these dark caverns of self and psyche lay our purest and most powerful essence. This is our energetic core in its fullness and it is our most genuine self. This core is so powerful, it will not rest until fully expressed! As we better orchestrate our lives in alignment with our core nature, we become more authentic. We develop better personal connections and will find satisfaction in our ability to fulfill our highest potential.
While the voyage may not always be pleasant or comfortable, coming into alignment with our energetic core is where health and abundance flourish. We discover treasures unknown, are able to walk a path of purpose and live out our wildest dreams! These are the gifts awaiting all of us on the journey toward personal truth, authentic expression and connection of soul with self.
